WHO IS THIS GUY?

Trey Kirchoff is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist based in Cleveland and is known for his creativity, entrepreneurship and community involvement.

Trey is a filmmaker, writer, designer, consultant, and small business owner who has a keen eye for aesthetics and a passion for helping others succeed. With a devotion to style and service by virtue of his ‘Maximalism Hospitality’ approach he has built a strong reputation in various industries and is committed to making a positive impact in his community.

Trey most recently owned and operated COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE, an astonishingly unique and creative cafe, small business incubator and community gathering space.

Trey currently lives in Old Brooklyn with his wife Dana and their two sons Augustus Wolfgang and Ronan Matisse.

“As an artist my goal is to share my unique perspective on the human experience, engaging my audience in reflection. I strive to be erudite without being didactic and to create cool stuff in collaboration with others in my community.”

~TK

CAREER

Milwaukee, WI | 1999 - 2004

Trey graduated in 2002 from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts where he majored in Visual Arts. Having secured a full scholarship to attend University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a focus on Experimental Film, he unceremoniously departed in 2005 for an opportunity to work in the Film and Television industry in New York City.

Brooklyn, NY | 2004 - 2014

Trey has worked in the broad spectrum from independent to major blockbuster films & television. Between paid gigs he has made numerous short films, music videos, documentaries and independent series alongside his many talented friends.

Trey studied with Werner Herzog and attended his Rogue Film School as well as Robert McKee’s STORY Seminar.

Trey also honed his skills in the science of coffee as a barista and Regional Manager to one of NYC’s most prestigious specialty coffee roasters, Gimme! Coffee.

Cleveland, OH | 2014 - Present Day

Trey met his enchanting wife Dana while living in Brooklyn, NY and they eloped while on holiday in Kerala, India. After the birth of their first child Trey realized NYC’s rent was, in the common parlance, ‘too damn high.’

After transplanting to Dana’s native Cleveland, Trey set his intention on creating the coffee shop of his dreams. He achieved this dream, first with PASSENGERS CAFE in Ohio City and next with COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE in Old Brooklyn. Both shops were well received by the community and garnered much acclaim.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in devoting oneself fully to their chosen path.

My taste is my talent, and I express my creative sensibility through a combination of Style and Service I like to call ‘Maximalism Hospitality.’ Whether you join me on a collaborative vision or walk into one of my coffee shops, my aim is to create an absolute and indelible feeling.

Maximalism Hospitality is a highly curated, unmistakable full sensory experience of time and place. Deeply considered attention to angle and movement, composition, dramatic lighting and dynamic colors, image-driven interiors all working together cohesively to create an immersive and complete impression.

This purposeful devotion to Style woven together with passionate, engaging Service creates a singular, high-impact impression that transports people to a new dimension; one that feels entirely natural and suited to the history and future history of that place, leaving them with a permanent memory of the power of imagination and what is possible.

INSPO

“The world reveals itself to those who walk.”

~ Werner Herzog, Of Walking In Ice

“The great artist has less a mark’d style, and is more the channel of thoughts and things without increase or diminution, and is the free channel of himself.”

~Walt Whitman, forward to Leaves of Grass

“Frequently there is much to gain by setting flame to idle acres.”

~ Virgil, Georgics

In reference to art and what the artist reveals, Picasso said, ‘It’s not what you can see, but what you know is there.’

I believe that I have many strengths as an artist and creative problem solver, with my strongest being my ability to collaborate with others and create a vision for the future. My goal is to recognize and identify the raw potential in a person, project, or place, and motivate my collaborators and community to enthusiastically band together, develop, and celebrate this potential through collective action. In other words, my aim is to bring out what I know is there.
